Plug-and-Play Simplicity and 1 TB Storage Capacity
The Iomega Prestige uses a USB 2.0 interface for fast data transfers with universal compatibility. The USB 2.0 interface allows for plug-and-play simplicity with a data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. Additionally, the drive is already preformatted NTFS, so you don't have to waste time formatting to use it.

The Prestige features a drive with 7200 RPM spindle speed and an 8MB or higher cache buffer. This provides performance that results in fast access speeds and low latency.

And with 1TB of storage capacity, the Prestige gives you the ability to store up to 4 million photos, over 18,500 hours of music, or 1,500 hours of video.

Stylish Aluminum Case
The Prestige has durable aluminum construction with a brushed-metal finish that will stylishly complement your desktop or workstation. An included stand gives you the option of either placing the drive horizontally or vertically.

Backup Software Included

It only lasted a year. Shortly after the warranty expired, so did it. On top of that Iomega's customer service is lacking. Honestly, I don't know how good or bad the actual service is because I refused to PAY the $25 they charge to talk to you about their busted products!

Ordered from Amazon on May 4 2010. Got it formated on both a mac and pc. Proceeded to transfered over 400gb including my graphic design work and school project.

Not sure what happened. It worked fine for a few weeks then soon it started clicking. When I went to check on some files (jpg's, indd's, photoshop files, some movies) they wouldn't work. Now that I'm trying to save my files (transferring them back to my pc, then to an online storage service) it pretty much has corrupted most of my files.

My recommendation: Skip external and pay for online storage.
If you have more that 10 gb of important sleepless night, blood sweat and tears work...taking a risk on this product will devastate you.

Well I can't say yet how reliable it is, because I haven't had it long enough. What I can say is that I was impressed with the software that came with it and the support website. I've bought several USB drives, and I don't remember any of them having the support that came with this drive. Also, like the extended warranty that came with it after registering it.

Having had positive experiences with the Iomega lTB drives, I purchased the 2TB when I retired one of the 1TBs to keep as an extra backup volume filled with my photographs and graphic work.

Unfortunately, right out of the box, this 2B drive began to fail and my Event Viewer showed multiple, repeated instances of disk errors (paging) for this 2TB Iomega.

Iomega tech support was efficient and straightforward (after a long phone queue) and will be sending me a replacement. Since I haven't had much luck with replacement units from other disk manufacturers (stopped using Maxtor after they sent me a real clunker replacement drive), I don't know what I'll receive or how much confidence I'll have in the Iomega replacement unit--we'll see.

Have to say that I have already ordered (and received lightening-fast) another lTB Iomega from Amazon and have it backing up my data as we speak--because my experience with the others I have had has been positive.
